Sharepoint 2013, List templates + JS Link + ListTemplateType

Hi there,

We're just getting started with SharePoint 2013 (Office 365 hosted) and are struggling on how to customise lists without building Apps.  We would like to do as much as possible with client side code and out the box SP.

We are happy with having done the following:

1. Created a list template
2. Customised the list with "JS Link" JavaScript

The problem is that there seems to be no obvious way to change the default "JS Link" so that it gets assigned by default when an admin drops our custom list web part onto a page.  Is there some way to do this?

Also, we have re-styled the custom and linked lists based on the ListTemplateType ID but we need to do many more - is it possible to create a list template with a custom ListTemplateType ID?
