PeopleEditor in Windows XP SP2 with IE8 doesn't work

Hi everybody,

I have a problem using IE8 on a Windows XP SP2 using the PeopleEditor-Control in SharePoint 2013. If I try to resolve a loginname by clicking "Check names" nothing happens. If i try to add an user by browsing the catalog, nothing gets inserted after clicking OK. The following screenshot is taken on the "create a sitecollection"-page in the central administration after browsing the catalog-dialog:

In later or other browsers this works fine.

In IE8 neither I get any feedback nor is any output in the console in devtools. In my eyed, this is a fundamental error. Does anyone have a solution or workaround for this?
