Capturing User Actions on Document

Hello all,

I'm looking for a way to capture the user activity on each document in a document library in such a way that the information can then be presented to the end user on a SP page dedicated to the activity of that document. In our scenario documents may go through many rounds of revision and it's important to us to be able to see who did what when.

I've played around with the OOTB auditing options in SP 2010 but this doesn't give me what I need; I don't want the user to have to run a report and then trawl through data. The goal is that for each document the user can be presented with the uploads, downloads, opens, changes, deletions, and restores in a quick view way that allows them to see an overview of what's all taken place on that document.

Do you think this is possible and can you suggest an approach?

Thanks & best regards

Gary
