Whats behind SPListItem.Add() in the original MS code?

Hi,

i know who to create a new Sharepoint ListItem in Code, but what's behind

SPListItem.Add()

How would the code look like behind the Add() Method of the class? Cause i can use Update() Method for both updating AND inserting an ListItem.
