SP2013 Development

Maybe someone can lead me into the developers world

If you imagine there’s a team of e.g. 7 people and most of them is a (.Net) developer – some of them take care of the branding on SP 2013 others are focused on features that aren't present in SP 2013.

What is “best practice” when it comes to an developer environment?

Is it;

  • Every team member has a SP2013 installed locally (running on windows 7/8)  - and then deploy their code to a common SP2013 server?
  • Every team member have a Hyper-v server at their disposal where they can create all the servers they can desire…
  • How does your team do it?
  • Regarding the branding aspect - is this still necessary to do this in Visual studio (a WSP) - or is it recommended to do this in the design manager on SP2013?
