Core Search Results web part

Hi,

I have set up a search scope called "Staff Directory" that only searches on a "Contacts" list in SharePoint 2010. I have then added this search scope to the "Drop down" group (all this was done from Central Admin) on my site users can select the "Staff Directory" drop down and enter the name of a particular contact to bring back results from the "Contact Lists". This works great, however when I edit the search results page and add a "core search results" web part and specify the scope I set up earlier "Staff Directory" in the "Scope" field of the web part properties and save/publish the page the scope for the newly added web part is not being picked for some reason... I have been stuck with this for over a day now, is there a way to ensure that my scope is picked up and used by the web part which I have just mentioned above?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
