User Profile Services and Active Directory Group Memberships

I've been at this for two days now. I'm trying to find a way to add a value to the User Profile Properties that indicates either the AD Group Membership. I've also considered creating separate Sync Connections and somehow adding a UPP that indicates the Sync Source.

I found this thread and it makes sense. Our Audiences are working as expected, So I can only assume the import of Groups is actually working.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this would be great!
