For meeting a project requirement, I had created a SharePoint 2013 custom workflow. This was working fine till the time I was leveraging windows authentication. However, as soon as I switched to claim based form authentication, it stopped working. The issue that is being faced is that the workflow does not get initiated; rather we encounter the following error

I tried out the possible solutions - (a) starting User profile synchronization service (b) Activating Feature “Workflows can use app permissions”, (c) Setting workflow as trusted in site settingsà site app permissions, and (d) setting ‘i’ as default provider in membership but none of these worked.
Could somebody help me resolving this issue.
