It seems the the feature of displaying barcode from SharePoint inside a Word document has been discontinued in SharePoint / Office 2013. Microsoft says that the workaround is to develop a custom XML to read the barcode inside a Word 2013 document.
Anyone has an idea how to do that, we don't want any third party software, and seems it's possible inside Word itself.
Any help is highly appreciated.
