Distribution of the Application Pages

Hi,

I am adding a few SP2010 application pages in "\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\MyApplicationPages\Testpage.aspx" folders. The pages are working well. I wonder if the application pages will be automatically replicated to multiple IIS applications when I have more than one WFE? - Or do I need to manually copy files to each of the the WEFs ?

I know features are the best way to do this, but I wanted to know this specific behavior of sharepoint 2010.
